Health and Safety Specialist – Lockheed Martin Global Incorporated – Wellington

LMGI NZ currently encompasses 230 + employees and operates through five sites in Trentham, Palmerston North, Burnham, Wellington and Waiouru, with plans to expand to other locations in the coming years. Our primary customers include the NZ Defence Force, NZ Police, and NZ Fire Service, in addition to other government, local government and private sectors.

This unique role sits within our (NZ Army) customer’s structure and forms part of the Wellington Regional Support Centre leadership team.  It is responsible for the oversight and coordination of Health and Safety processes and procedures, within the Upper Hutt Defence Area (UHDA).  Based in Trentham this role will  provide advice on OSH policy and issues along with ensuring the UHDA sites meet the requirements of the Health and Safety in Employment Act 1992 (HASIE).

To be successful in this role the skills and abilities required include (but are not limited to):

Extensive Health & Safety knowledge and experience with relevant qualifications
Proven experience providing advice and support, to ensure legislative compliance
Proven ability to critically analyse complex information and make effective recommendations
Previous experience working with multiple stakeholders and locations in a complex environment
Proven leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with a wide range of internal and external customers
Knowledge of NZDF command structures, policies and procedures is desirable
An ability to meet and maintain a NZ Security Clearance
Full Class 1 Licence
Flexibility to work outside of normal office hours
