What you will do
As Team Leader Defence and International Industrial Security you will lead a small team of dedicated professionals tasked with managing the Defence Industrial Security Programme. This programme is designed to ensure the protection of national and foreign classified material, equipment or strategically important NZDF assets. These assets are entrusted by the NZDF into the custody and control of our accredited industrial and strategic partners.
Specifically, you will be responsible for the provision and delivery of high quality, effective protective security policies, services, products and advice applicable to Defence Industry stakeholders and strategic partners. This supports, at all times, to the security environment of the NZDF its allies and other friendly forces. You will also contribute to international industry specific bilateral relationships and international agreements which may impact or involve the Defence Industrial Security Programme and its members.
What we need
We want someone who is pro-active and initiates action. You will have demonstrated experience leading teams and be adept in building a positive and productive team culture. Your well-developed communication and rapport building skills enables you to liaise with seniors and stakeholders at all levels of an organisation.
You will possess a sound knowledge of NZ Government and NZDF security policy and procedures, especially the DFO 51 series and have an understanding of the operational security and protection function in a NZ public or state sector context. You will also have a thorough understanding of Security Risk Management methodology and an appreciation of what constitutes a threat to security.
You have developed experience in an operational security and within a ‘client’ focused environment and are an experienced facilitator.
Ideally you have at least seven years experience in the security industry environment or NZDF security and hold atertiary degree at Bachelor, or Post-Graduate diploma level, in either security related programme or general management, a Diploma in Security (NZQA Level 6) or a senior security technical equivalent qualification.

- is a citizen of, and/or has resided continuously in one or more of the following countries for the last ten years: either Australia, Canada, NZ, the United Kingdom (UK) or the United States of America (USA); and has a background history that is verifiable and can be assessed as appropriate by the NZ Security Intelligence Service (NZSIS) towards a recommendation of suitability for a security clearance at this level.
