Operations and Technical Coordinators (Two Roles)
We are seeking two persons with a mix of operational and technical co-ordination skills to be deputies to the Principal Rural Fire Officer (PRFO) for Pumicelands Rural Fire Authority. Together with the PRFO and an administration support role the two positions will make up a four person team based in Rotorua. This team will oversee eight management zones across the Central North Island, each with a zone manager and will report to a governance committee.
Currently, Pumicelands Rural Fire Authority is centred around commercial forestry but from 1 July 2015 the entity is being enlarged to also include lands managed for fire by the Department of Conservation and a number or local government councils. The vision is to amalgamate 10 current rural fire management authorities into one high performing agency with responsibility over approximately 2.3 million hectares.
It should be clear that these are not direct operational management roles but will be focussed on providing operational and technical support to zones. While we are seeking people who have proven experience with rural fire management, to be successful applicants will also need to display competencies in: relationship building, people management, communication and facilitation skills, time management, planning, project management and operating systems development.
