Community Law Wellington & Hutt Valley (CLWHV) is looking for the right people to help us continue to grow Pou Whirinaki, our team providing services to Māori in Wellington and the Hutt Valley.
Pou Whirinaki is a legal and advocacy service that is by Māori, for Māori. We see legal needs as affecting the social, spiritual, and cultural wellbeing of our clients and their communities, so we strive to increase access to justice for whānau, hapū, and iwi with tikanga-based practise and solutions.
This is a part-time role at 30 hours per week, based across our offices in both Te Awa Kairangi and Te Whanganui a Tara. This job has a primary focus on advocacy mahi and community development, but will also involve education.
You will be working with our team of Māori lawyers and community workers, who are all incredibly committed to making a difference. To fit in, you will need to be passionate about access to justice for Māori. Our preferred candidate will also be comfortable in te Ao Māori and will have some level of te reo.
We are primarily interested in your character, your raw skills, your commitment to the kaupapa, and your willingness to learn – however, this role will be ideal for someone who has experience in advocacy and relationship building, especially in Māori contexts.
