Health and Safety Manager – Solid Energy New Zealand Ltd – Southland

Reporting to the Southland Area Manager, as a member of the Southland Management team, you will be part of our commitment to achieve Zero Harm by actively promoting and supporting a strong health and safety culture at all of the Southland mining and processing operations. Key to the role will be your ability to identify opportunities and influence and support line managers to achieve our commitment to Zero Harm.

You will be responsible for the implementation of safety initiatives and support line managers in order to enhance acceptance and achievement of a Zero Harm OHS culture at our opencast mining and processing operations.

Key accountabilities will include:

Ensuring appropriate and effective systems, standard, procedures and plans are in place at all times for the management of Health and Safety
Ensuring a safety culture is achieved
Maintaining internal and external peer relationships

The successful applicant will have worked at a senior level where involvement will have been both strategic and hands-on in nature. You will have suitable tertiary level qualifications that can be demonstrated to have relevance to health and safety. A strong preference will be given to those with experience in mining or a heavy industrial related industry and you will ideally have a strong working knowledge of the new mining legislation as well as the Health and Safety in Employment Act as it pertains to New Zealand.
