About the role:
We have an exciting opportunity for a Business Director to join our Finance and Performance team, providing advice to the CFO and the Finance & Performance group leadership team on effecting the business plan, overseeing strategic objectives, work programmes and other enterprise F&P activities.
You will be responsible for coordinating the development, monitoring and reporting of the F+P strategic change programme across the Group and ensuring that all F+P outcomes and objectives are delivered in accordance with both the current year’s objectives and the overall strategic direction.
This role is a facilitation and co-ordination one and requires working in close collaboration with other corporate groups ensuring F+P capability, strategy and systems are well aligned with the rest of MBIE. It also requires the implemention of a continuous performance improvement approach to address opportunities, gaps and weaknesses within F&P.
Another key area of focus will be acting as an engagement champion to design a programme of staff engagement activities and maintain oversight of people development and investment activities in collaboration with other F&PLT members.
Skills and experience:
To be successful in this role you will have:
Experience developing, communicating and facilitating solutions for complex operating environments, and have strong strategic and organisational agility
A strategic thinker who is able to make the connections between broader stakeholder needs and implications for a mixed model of service delivery
Experience in managing through change processes and successfully coordinating and integrating complex work programmes within agreed timeframes
Self-motivation and persistence in challenging existing frameworks and actively promoting solutions
The ability to quickly establish and build strong working relationships and develop trust and credibility with managers and staff, to take people on a journey and overcome any resistance to change
We need a seasoned professional with very broad knowledge of finance environments best practice and systems, and a high-level understanding of Government decision-making and operating procedures. Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate and influence across F+P broadly without necessarily having direct line accountability, are also critical to this role.
