Structural Technician – Designer – Canterbury – Acorva Technical Recruitment

How many years have you had of being busy, busy busy – eyes glued to the CAD screen/s while the only fun you witness seems to be on Facebook?

Time for a change?
If you are a capable and experienced Structural Technician who has done their time in Christchurch, perhaps with one of the larger consultancies, and have been considering your options, have a think about this.

You could:
Go out on your own (= flexibility + stress)
Stay where you are (= security + missing out)
Look for the best of both? (security + teamwork + flexibility)
Every so often we have a role where the client, for various reasons, needs a regular resource but is happy for someone to share their workload between home and there office. In this case, it’s because these people are working from the Director’s home office and everyone is coming and going.

The firm is a small posse of Engineers and Technicians many of whom originated in one of the more entrepreneurial consultancies in the pre-quake city and this DNA has obviously carried through. Fast-moving and enterprising, this company operates at the upper end of new build and renovation design. Consultancy services are integrated with land development and sustainable solutions to bring a new formula to Canterbury householders.

The role of Structural Technician operates at the hub of the team and involves providing quality documentation and design detailing as part of the structural services, but in this agile practice, you can also find yourself picking up invaluable insights into organic systems, earthworks, solar and architectural components.

In-depth knowledge of timber / steel & concrete design documentation to NZ standards.
Revit Skills.
Maturity, self-motivation and a team-centric approach
If you are keen to work from home, then you will need to have at least some of the gear in place of course, otherwise there are facilities in the office.

We are looking for someone who is proven in the New Zealand professional landscape, can stretch when required to get the job done, is resourceful enough to find out about products and materials, knows the timber, steel and concrete (RC) codes, and can, when junior staff arrive, play a part in growing the show.
