The Department of Accounting and Information Systems (ACIS) invites applications for a continuing position of Professor/Associate Professor in Accounting. The actual position will be dependent on the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience. The successful candidate will also take up a three year position as the Head of the Department of Accounting and Information Systems.

ACIS is part of the University of Canterbury’s School of Business and Economics, which is one of New Zealand’s leading business schools. The Department enjoys an international reputation and provides a collegial environment. Academic staff have access to generous contestable internal research funding and study leave.

Successful candidates should have a strong and ongoing record of publications in internationally recognised high-quality academic journals in one or more areas of Accounting; be experienced in the supervision of doctoral students; have proven experience in academic leadership; have good teaching skills; and be able and willing to contribute to College and professional service activities.

As the Head of the ACIS Department, the candidate will provide leadership that strengthens the department’s excellence in research and teaching, and be able to maintain and develop relationships with appropriate stakeholders. Applicants should have the ability to promote a vision for the future of the Department, including motivating staff to successfully reach their academic potential, and develop and grow the Department’s domestic and international student numbers. At the College level, the candidate should have a proven ability to provide strategic input as a member of the College Executive Team.
