Garden To Table are a charitable trust on a mission to empower all New Zealand tamariki to grow, harvest, share and prepare great kai.
We want all tamariki to be able to see themselves reflected in the programme and our mission is for students to take these life skills home. Empowering children with a love of fresh food and the skills they need to grow and prepare it, will have a transformative and lifelong impact on their health and hauora – wellbeing – and the world around them.

This is an exciting opportunity to build a community of Garden to Table schools in Hawke’s Bay with the support of a very helpful and friendly team of colleagues across the country.
You will be the local face of Garden to Table, supporting our schools with their kitchen garden programmes, developing strong community relationships that benefit our schools, and working collaboratively with other organisations.
This position will be for 15 hours per week, for 40 weeks of the year (excluding school holidays), at a rate of $31.00 per hour.
You don’t have to be a skilled cook or gardener, but you MUST care about good, fresh produce and supporting schools to allow children to discover a love for the kitchen and garden. You’ll be an upbeat, collaborative and pragmatic problem-solver with a positive, ‘can-do’ attitude, who is willing to go the extra mile. You’ll be comfortable working with teachers and school principals one minute and community groups and corporate sponsors the next.
Candidates with existing relationships with local community organisations are strongly desired and presenting/training experience would be an advantage. This will be a busy roles, but you will be rewarded with a job that is highly flexible, comes with amazing colleagues and the knowledge you are helping to build resilience in tamariki and whānau.

Key tasks include:
Developing a vibrant community of Garden to Table schools and being the local representative of the Garden to Table Trust
Delivering group Garden to Table training to local schools, as outlined in the Garden to Table training manuals, to a required standard
Engaging and collaborating with other community groups such as Enviroschools, Heart Foundation, local councils and marae
Developing volunteer relationships to support Garden to Table schools
Being a local contact point for funders and sponsors, and developing local business relationships.
You will be a well-organised administrator who is competent with computers and computer systems, as ongoing administration and contact management is an essential part of the role. Experience in the use of CRM systems and the ability to use communications systems to work with colleagues from a distance is essential.
Candidates also need to be confident relating to various backgrounds and ethnicities and have strong relationship building skills.
This is a work-from-home role so we are looking for a proactive self-starter, and have your own transport.
