Trade / Consumer Marketing Manager – Central Otago District Council – Otago

Do you love Central Otago?  Would you like to represent our region?  An exciting opportunity has arisen to promote and sell Central Otago as a visitor destination.  Central Otago is renowned for its landscapes, continental climate and lifestyle. “Central” is developing as a sought after holiday destination both for New Zealanders and our international visitor.

The Trade and Consumer Marketing Manager is located in our office in Alexandra and is responsible for the trade related communication, marketing and promotional activity and organisational representation.  The person will also assist with some consumer and media activities.

Duties and Responsibilities

The role has the following primary duties and responsibilities:

Co-ordinate and attend relevant industry trade shows
Develop and implement trade-related communications and sales plans
Work productively with other members of the Tourism Central Otago and Community Services Team
Assist with visiting media from time to time
Work with tourism operators to assist them to become trade-ready
Develop training webinars for offshore wholesalers

Skills and Experience

Tertiary qualification in marketing preferred but not essential
3+ year’s industry experience working with trade
Experience in developing effective marketing campaigns
Confident in public speaking, presentations and delivering training
Excellent written and verbal communications skills
Aptitude for the digital environment
A strong knowledge of the Central Otago region is preferred but not essential

Other Requirements

Full NZ driver’s license
Valid passport and ability to travel regularly

Tourism Central Otago is part of the Central Otago District Council and responsible for promoting tourism to the region.
