Systems Accountant – Ministry for Primary Industries – Wellington

Job Description
MPI’s Finance Systems and Processing Team has a new vacancy for a permanent Systems Accountant.
Our ideal candidate has a background in systems accounting and is able to operate at a technical level as well as the usual systems analysis and accounting functions. You will have strong analytical skills and proven experience in identifying, documenting and implementing both business process and financial system improvements. You will be a self-starter, able to pick up projects and run with them to completion.
About the role:
This team has a wide variety of customers, both within the Finance Property & Procurement directorate and throughout MPI, so strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to form effective working relationships are a must.
Putting ourselves in our customers’ shoes is an important part of the role, so the ability to identify what will work best for our customers would help you stand out from the pack.
As these are generalist roles there will be a reasonable component of general system administration, end-user support, guidance, and training.
MPI is a long-time user of the TechnologyOne FMIS platform, cutting across the Financials, Supply Chain, Asset Management, Contract Management, Enterprise Budgeting, ETL and Business Intelligence modules as well as Ci Anywhere. If you can ‘tick-off’ some of these boxes and want to learn more about the others, this could be the role for you.

About the Team:
The FMIS team sits within the Finance Systems and Processing area of the Finance, Property and Procurement directorate. Finance Systems and Processing are responsible for the smooth functioning of Accounts Payable, Receivable, Purchase Card Administration, Banking and Tax alongside the provision and support of MPI’s financial systems.
