Kei te rapu te Whare Ture Hāpori mō ētahi kaimahi hou!
Community Law Wellington & Hutt Valley (CLWHV) is looking for the right people to help us continue to grow Pou Whirinaki, our team providing services to Māori in Wellington and the Hutt Valley.
Pou Whirinaki is a legal and advocacy service that is by Māori, for Māori. We see legal needs as affecting the social, spiritual, and cultural wellbeing of our clients and their communities, so we strive to increase access to justice for whānau, hapū, and iwi with tikanga-based practise and solutions.
This is a full-time role, based across our offices in both Te Awa Kairangi and Te Whanganui a Tara. This is a lawyer role which will focus on providing free legal advice, information, and support to our Māori communities in the greater Wellington region.
You will be working with our team of Māori lawyers and community workers, who are all incredibly committed to making a difference. To fit in, you will need to be passionate about access to justice for Māori. Our preferred candidate will also be comfortable in te Ao Maori and will have some level of te reo.
Applicants must be admitted as a barrister & solicitor of the High Court of New Zealand, and be eligible for a practising certificate. We are primarily interested in your character, your raw skills, your commitment to the kaupapa, and your willingness to learn – however, this role will be ideal for someone who has experience working with whānau Māori.
In return we can offer you an exceptional work environment with as much flexibility and responsibility as you need to get the job done. Our aim is to make Community Law the best place to work for the best people!
This position provides an opportunity for someone with vision and drive to create meaningful change in Aotearoa New Zealand.
