Clinical Nurse Specialist – Capital and Coast District Health Board

The multidisciplinary team in Children’s Health is dedicated to ensuring that care of the infant/child/young person and family is paramount. The Service provides an integrated mix of inpatient/outpatient/day patient and domiciliary services for infants, children and young people from a wide range of backgrounds and ethnicities from birth up to sixteen years of age. Services are delivered in Wellington and Kenepuru Hospitals, Puketiro Centre, Kapiti Health Centre, out reach clinics and the infants and children’s own homes.

The Clinical Nurse Specialist is expected to provide professional nursing leadership focusing on developing nursing clinical practice. This role is critical in ensuring and maintaining essential nursing standards and leading the implementation of nursing clinical change and skill development. You will need to be innovative in your practice.

We are looking for an experienced paediatric nurse who can step into this role and develop the service at a strategic level. The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate excellent communication skills in addition to proven clinical skills, and has a passion for teaching, mentoring and supporting his/her colleagues.

This role requires you to interact with a wide range of people from various backgrounds, so good people skills are essential. You will also need to be an advocate for the organisation’s strategic direction and have a commitment to advocating for professional and organisational initiative.

The ideal candidate will have some experience in a senior/management role and bring with them organisational wide knowledge and have developed interdepartmental relationships.

This position is permanent and can be full time or part time minimum 0.8FTE working from Monday to Friday (occasional meetings outside of 800-1630 hours).
