Clinical Nurse Educator – Capital and Coast District Health Board

The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit has a 0.5 FTE position availableto enhance practice in our tertiary Neonatal Unit.The focus of this position is to manage thepreceptorship of new staff, new graduate staff and students to ensure they aresupported andwell orientated tothe NICU environment.

We are looking for an experienced neonatal nurse who hasdemonstrated excellent communication skills in addition to proven technicalskills, further Post registration study and an aptitude for teaching, mentoringand supporting his/her colleagues.

The Clinical Nurse Educator will work in the NICU education team(part of the NICU Senior Nurse Team), assisting and liaising the planningof staff education to meet the needs of each individual staff member bymentoring individuals in the clinical practice area, as well as some classroomteaching. This will ensure safe and skilled care can be provided for neonatesand their families.

They will assist with keeping data bases to keep track oforganisational requirements and to meet the education needs of all staff. Theywill maintain information via Connect Me, Actor and Trendcare.

The CNE will also develop performance improvement plans asrequired for staff members, followed through withassessments and written reports. Support staff and encourage them to developskills and knowledge to maintain and enhance best practice.
