Site Project Manager – Auckland – Ministry for Primary Industries

Over the next two years, MPI has three major property changes under way. These changes mean that around 80% of MPI’s staff will be moving workplaces over this period. These moves provide an opportunity to think differently about workplaces and to ensure there is better alignment of workplace provision with business need, future working styles, technology changes, mobility, cultural change and strategy.

This is a chance to modernise, future proof and build the environment to make “our MPI” a physical reality. When the Modern Workplace programme is complete, it will be easier for our people to work together, in improved and consistent office layouts, with enhanced security and tools to allow people to work anywhere, anytime.

In Auckland MPI is building a new centre, which will bring together 400 staff from three locations into one on a new site out at the Airport.

Reporting into the Modern Workplace Property Programme Manager, we are looking for an experienced Site Project Manager to integrate and manage the overall delivery of changes for the Auckland site. The Site Project Manager will oversee the delivery of the construction activities by the architect and Landlord (Auckland International Airport Limited) and be the link back into the MPI teams such as Security, Human Resources, Information and Communications, to ensure that all workstreams are scoped, planned and managed to delivery. This is a fixed term role for two years and can be based in either Wellington or Auckland.

The Site Project Manager will be accountable for identifying all the relevant workstreams, planning the project, delivering to the plan, monitoring and accurately reporting on the site’s progress. In addition, this role manages the overall project budget and resources, and manages project risk, changes and issues.

To be successful, we are looking for an experienced Project Manager with at least 5 years’ experience. It goes without saying you are comfortable navigating your way through large, complex projects of work – ideally in a property context, and delivering significant transformational change.
