Senior Environmental Adviser – Department of Corrections – Wellington

Job Description
We are currently looking for a Senior Environmental Adviser with 10+ years’ experience to join a dynamic team for a 12 month Maternity Cover contract. This is a great opportunity to work on one of the largest property portfolios in New Zealand and support delivery of a range of nationally significant projects.

As Senior Environmental Adviser you’ll take the lead in resolving a wide range of environmental management, planning and compliance issues for the Department. You will have experience working in multi-disciplinary project teams and have a strong delivery focus. This will draw on your demonstrated ability to build strong working relationships, influence others and pull people together. You’ll be part of a small team providing expert RMA and strategic planning advice encompassing environmental policy, land management, designations, resource consents and environmental compliance issues.

To be successful you’ll have a good understanding of environmental legislation and regulatory frameworks, while being able to demonstrate the following:

Broad experience in environmental management and the ability to identify and resolve issues
Highly developed project management skills and experience leading cooperative efforts, including influencing and negotiating with others to achieving positive outcomes
Good working knowledge of the RMA and related processes
Excellent interpersonal and relationship management skills, including experience in stakeholder engagement
Highly developed problem-solving, analytical, written and oral communication skills.
