Exciting Fixed Term opportunity (3 months) for a Senior Adviser to join the Food Assurance team within the Systems Audit, Assurance & Monitoring Directorate
Salary: $62,625 – $78,281
The Food Assurance team is located in the Regulation and Assurance Branch and is responsible for enabling the import and export of eligible food. We do this by ensuring the effectiveness and integrity of MPI’s import and export assurance programme, which involves balancing our desire to facilitate trade (Growing) with the need for rigour in our assurance system (Protecting).
Key responsibilities for the role are (but are not limited to):-
Assure the integrity, safety and reputation of New Zealand’s primary products, including food, through:
determining the eligibility and disposition of products that do not comply with market requirements;
supporting the analysis of food assurance information to identify areas of particular concern, emerging issues or risks, and trends;
regular reporting of food assurance information;
providing on-going advice on the design and implementation of food assurance programmes, requirements and systems;
provide technical advice, interpret and clarify requirements, systems and policies for food and export assurance systems.
Support market access for New Zealand’s primary products through:
supporting assurance system requirements that facilitate access of compliant food into export markets;
Contributing to the development of export standards and/or bilateral market access assurance arrangements.
Support MPI’s Food Assurance Team initiatives and building relationships with key food sector
To be successful in this role you should have: very strong analytical ability; a capacity to quickly identify and clearly express core elements of an issue or proposal; excellent communication skills to enable effective linkages with MPI staff, stakeholders and other agencies; demonstrated ability to produce written material that is concise, fluent and clearly presented.
