Prosthetic Technician – New Zealand Artificial Limb Service – Auckland

The vision of the New Zealand Artificial Limb Service (NZALS) is ‘independent and productive lives for amputees’.  We are a Crown Entity that provides prosthetic and rehabilitation services to amputees in New Zealand.

With the amputee at the centre of everything we do, NZALS’ has a new strategy that will see a significant evolution in services to amputees.  This position will directly contribute to this strategy through the creation and manufacturing of new prostheses; a vital role in ensuring we deliver a world class service to all amputees.

The Prosthetic Technician will be responsible for the fabrication of quality new prostheses to prescription and the maintenance and repair of prostheses for amputees.

The ideal candidate will have the following skill set, (linked to the themes of our 2020 strategic plan):

Service – accountable for achieving organisational set competency standards of fabricating, maintenance and repair of quality prostheses, you will have a keen interest in prosthetics in order to deliver an amputee-centred service.

Expert Workforce – the successful candidate will have a relevant qualification, a keen interest in their professional development and 3+ years’ experience as a Prosthetic Technician or 3+ years’ experience in software/engineering technology within a manufacturing and production environment.

R&D/Technology – you will have a passion for embracing technology and research to improve the patient experience and outcomes for amputees; and a strong desire to continually improve processes and standards to gain operational efficiencies.

Equity – a desire to provide amputees with access to technology and service based on need.

This role is based in the Auckland Artificial Limb Centre and reports directly into the Centre Manager.
