Job Description

The Department of Conservation (DOC) manages a nation-wide infrastructure of visitor sites and associated small to medium scale wastewater disposal and water supply systems. We need a wastewater and water supply engineer, chartered under the NZ Chartered Professional Engineers Act, to supplement the capability of the existing engineering team.

Your expertise is needed to manage and improve existing standard wastewater and water supply system designs, conduct research and develop new systems and assist DOC project managers with concept design and the engagement of consultants. You will also provide general wastewater and water supply engineering advice to DOC staff.

We need you to have a broad wastewater and water supply engineering background, preferably with remote location experience, experience in NZ’s backcountry, a good level of fitness and a willingness to travel. You must be self-motivated and happy working with minimal supervision.

The preferred locations for this role are Hamilton or Christchurch but other locations may be considered.
