Our client requires an experienced Health, Safety and Environmental Advisor to join them asap. This is a hands-on role with full site coverage, daily interaction with contractors reporting to project leader. Our client has made a name as a highly innovative and delivery focused commercial contractor consistently delivering stand out projects. They specialize in the design and build of complex commercial and large scale residential projects.
APPLICANTS MUST HAVE NZ CONSTRUCTION HSE EXPERIENCE.
The day to day responsibilities and duties of the role include but are not limited to:
Providing advice, practical guidance and support to the project team and all consultants and sub-contractors on the project
Develop and lead a strong HandS culture in the workplace through policy and procedure developments and through conducting in-house training with the Project team and consultants/subcontractors.
When new projects/sites are set up working to establish a fully fledged Site Specific Safety plan before construction commences while also managing the project’s emergency management plan.
Ensure that all subcontractors and parties associated with the projects have adequate safety plans in place while also managing all risks on sites with the aim to minimize and ideally eliminate all accidents
Carry out site inspections and safety audits throughout the project, reporting on the results, and implementing any recommendations/changes identified including accident reporting, site audits etc.
The successful Candidate will possess the following attributes:
Strong experience in construction Health and Safety and all related legislation within NZ.
Have strong leadership skills with the ability to build relationships with a number of varied groups and be able to implement and then influence HSE processes. Prior experience with construction on contaminated land sites and remediation processes will be beneficial.
Have excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
Have a relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent industry experience.
