Relieving Play Specialist – Canterbury District Health Board

We have a rare opportunity for you to join an existing team in a very special environment. Our Activity Room, located within the children’s ward is the hub of our service.

Play in hospital helps children and young people understand, cope with illness, regain confidence and express their feelings. Working with children from birth to 16 years, your experience as a teacher will be invaluable to helping children during their hospital stay.

You will be a highly qualified Early Childhood teacher holding a current practising certificate and NZ Teacher Registration with experience in this type of role. A diploma of special education would also be considered.

You have a positive attitude, are self-motivated, energetic and able to work autonomously within this role. Your ability to form great relationships with whanau and children will be critical to your success.

This is a casual relieving role with no set hours, instead you could be required at short notice.
