Southland Boys’ High School’s Catering and Hospitality department is at the forefront of educating students in the culinary field. Many students who have progressed through this programme have continued onto careers in the culinary profession and are working at Michelin Star Restaurants such as the Star Hand and Flowers in Marlow, The French in Manchester, the Langham Hotel at the Roux at the Landau Restaurant which is operated by the famous Roux Brothers and Le Manoir aux Quat’ Saisons.
This is a unique position and we require a person who can command respect and maintain and advance the internationally renowned culinary arts programmes that SBHS provide.

Extensive community engagement with local schools, catering events, International Day of Chefs, to name a few.
Participation in local / national / international competitions [including ISSCC International Secondary Schools Culinary Challenge / Southern Lights competitions and National Hospitality Championships]
Operation in conjunction with the senior students of the Tryline Café [open to the public to enable students to experience authentic learning – serving customers and being under the pump in the kitchen as part of their assessments]
Communication / connection with the Hospitality Industry [with the view to placements and advancement of the students’ careers]
Chef but with the expectation of becoming a qualified teacher [the school will assist with this process]
Expectation would be a hospitality work pattern not necessary traditional school hours
