The Parliamentary Library supports the business of Parliament through the provision of high quality library, information, research and knowledge services to members of Parliament, parliamentary staff, parliamentary agencies and the community. The Research Resources Team manages the physical and digital collections used to supply these services.
Research Resources Officers spend three to four days a week working in the Research Resources Team undertaking a variety of tasks including:
Assisting with managing the serials and parliamentary papers collections
Acquiring new items for the Library’s collections
Supporting general collection management work
Formatting and publishing Library content to our website.
They spend one to two days a week working in the Research Client Services Team supplying resources to clients, and staffing the Library’s client desk.
Previous appointees have used this position as a springboard to professional Librarian roles both within the Parliamentary Library and other public sector agencies.
Specific skills and attributes sought for the position are:
An interest in current affairs
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Client service experience
Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail
Energy and an aptitude for working in a fast-paced dynamic environment
A degree or equivalent.
Please note: This is a library position not a research position.
This position is full-time for 40 hours per week. The salary range is $38,669 – $55,586 and we expect to appoint between the start and the midpoint of the range. Applicants must be legally able to work in New Zealand.
