People & Organisation has been on a journey of continuous improvement for the last 2 years and have recently implemented a new HR, Payroll and Finance system. Reporting to the HR Systems and Administration Manager, and part of our newly formed HR Shared Services team, you will provide first line support in relation to all aspects of HR and pay administration. You will deliver an efficient and accurate HR and pay administration service to employees and line managers for all activities associated with the employee lifecycle, through the application of AUT Employment policies and procedures, within agreed performance levels and to comply with all statutory requirements. You will be responsible for providing timely and relevant information and first level advice, when requested, to employees, managers and external parties, within agreed parameters in order to maximise customer efficiency, effectiveness and confidence.

Our team manages supports over 3,000 staff, growing to 4,000 at peak times across the academic year. There is never a dull moment!

Based at our city campus, you will work closely with other members of our Shared Services and HR Advisory teams. You’ll be highly regarded for having your finger on the pulse and you’ll be systems and process savvy. The work you’ll undertake requires attention to detail, a sense of urgency and can do attitude. You’ll often be juggling multiple tasks at a time and have to manage the expectations of your customers.

Skills and Experience

Strong written and verbal communication skills
High attention to detail, excellent organisation skills
Ability to work under pressure, on own initiative and as part of a team
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages
Basic understanding of the NZ Employment law
High level of confidentiality for sensitive information
